Mini First Aid offers a range of classes across the UK for all the family; parents, grandparents, carers and for children as young as three years old, training them in basic and life-saving first aid.
Mini first aid owner and trainer for Reading, Wokingham, Woking, Farnborough, Fleet and surrounding areas Alison is a mum to two inquisitive young boys and a bouncy boxer dog. Having Worked as cabin crew for 12 years and being First Aid trained for any situation, Alison wanted to focus more on baby and child first aid after having her own children. This led her to becoming a member of Mini First Aid giving her the opportunity to pass on the importance of knowing what to do in an emergency with your little ones.
Hello, I'm Nina. How have I ended up being an additional trainer for Mini First Aid? Well it all started for me when I took the class myself despite being an Adult Nurse for the last 10 years I realised I wouldn't know what to do if anything happened to my little girl. I wanted to learn basic first aid that I might need in the home and out and about. I loved the course and found it to be helpful and interesting. I have a passion for all things health related and feel it's so important for everyone to know basic first aid. You never know when you might need it. I'm very excited to have joined Alison at Mini First Aid Berkshire.
Sky are always looking for ways to better support their staff and Parents@Sky Network offers support and benefits to staff who are parents. I came across Mini First Aid through a Facebook promotion and there was a huge demand for the Infant and Child First Aid class which was shared on our internal and external social channels. The communication and organisation of the event was excellent - Sarah-Lou was professional, engaging and even injected some parent style humour! The class was interactive and educational - everyone took something away from it including much more confidence in dealing with any emergencies which could arise with their little ones. The feedback received on the back of it was amazing! It was a great success and hopefully something we can do again, and potentially roll out to other sites in the UK. Thank you Mini First Aid, you were a pleasure to deal with!
I cannot recommend Mini First Aid enough. Kate ran a private class for me and my 11 year old daughter in the comfort of our own home, which was perfect especially as my babies are due any day now. My daughter and I feel much more confident in knowing what to do in a range of emergency situations and I also got some extra twin tips from Kate as a fellow twin Mum! It's such an important life skill that every parent and carer should have so I would urge you to book a Mini First Aid course today.
We attended the Mini First Aid class when I was pregnant last year. Fast forward to now and my baby girl is 8months old and my training has just saved her life! My daughter began silently choking on a piece of toast and had started to turn purple, because of my training I remained as calm as can be in that situation and was able to get her in the correct position and give her some black blows and retrieve the nasty culprit. £20 I paid for that course, it was the best £20 I ever spent because my daughter's life is priceless. I know for a fact before attending the course I would have just panicked and screamed, not knowing the best course of action. Thank you so much Mini First Aid, you saved my daughter's life and for that I'm eternally grateful.
"We are so glad we have done a Mini First Aid class. We enjoyed the class, found it really useful and feel so much more prepared in the build up to having our baby.”
Went to class run by Alison Gibbs in Farnborough last night as I now have an 8 months old granddaughter. Alison’s presentation was clear, detailed and precise. She answered all questions and was willing to provide any extra information needed. I came away from the class feeling reassured that I would know how to cope in an emergency situation. I also bought the first aid kit and 2 animal gel packs that freeze for head injuries. I would recommend this class to all prospective parents, parents, and grandparent. Thank you, Alison.
Great session, concise and informative. Very flexible as well – I was able to take my 4 month old along with me which was very helpful. It was a relaxed environment and the session moved at a good pace. Thank you.
It was a pleasure meeting Kate and Jacky from Mini First Aid and being taught what to do in case of an emergency. Learning CPR and what to do when a child is choking is invaluable. Obviously, I hope I never had to use the things I learned in today’s class, but horrible things happen and knowing these techniques can really make a huge difference. The class was fun and accessible given the seriousness of the topic. I would highly recommend everyone doing it.
Today I attended the first aid course with Alison as the trainer. Alison went step by step covering everything we needed to know from cpr, to choking to burns etc etc. 2 hours out of your day to help you with things you may one day come across (hopefully not) is defo worth £20. Alison also supplies chocolates ???? she has also offered to help after the session with any questions or queries we may have. Thankyou x
I found this session very helpful, it felt relaxed and was completely relevant to the age of my baby. Would highly recommend the session to parents needing some first aid awareness.
I enjoyed the class. Alison delivered all the necessary information at a good pace. There was a chance to practice the techniques and go back over anything if we needed to. It was a relaxed and friendly environment and I was able to take my 4 month old baby. I would definitely recommend the class to anyone who has children or looks after children.
One afternoon, we were enjoying a day out in the sunshine and had stopped to feed our daughter of 7 months, she’s just started solid food and we’d been giving her sliced banana to chew on. On this particular day, she inhaled a small piece and began to choke. I quickly remembered Martin’s words, put her in the proper hold, bottom in the air and one forceful strike between her shoulder blades dislodged the banana and although she was shocked, she was able to breathe again and I can’t tell you how relieved we felt! It may have only been 10 seconds in which she couldn’t breathe but it was terrifying. Had I not had the training from Martin and Mini First Aid, I cannot even begin to imagine how differently the situation could have turned out. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the training I received enabled me to save our daughter’s life.
A really informative class with relaxed environment! Hosted by Alison who was really knowledgeable, professional approach but with a lovely demeanor so you feel at ease asking questions if needs be! Would highly recommend.
The Mini First Aid Class (filmed for ITVBe) was a fantastic class, both Arg and I found it a really good and informative session
‘Excellent course well delivered. Alison has a wealth of knowledge and communicates it well. I attended in Wokingham with my teenage daughter. Would recommend to others.’
I have worked with small children for many years and have always been terrified of the thought of applying the first aid training i'd had in the past. But after 2 hours with Hayley I truly feel more confident. The course was clear, calm and specifically geared towards the problems i'd face in my job. It made me think of things I hadn't before making me a safer and more prepared teacher in the case of an emergency.
My 4 month old and I attended Alison’ s class in Farnborough and thought it was brilliant. A great reminder of some basic first aid, as well as all the need-to-know essentials on choking and baby CPR. Alison was really friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. I was so pleased to have found an affordable course that was informal and short enough to be able to bring baby with me.
There are a gazillion things I never seem to get around to doing (fixing the broken blind in our bedroom, getting some photos printed of ‘the baby’ who is almost two but still doesn’t exist on our walls, pinning down the coffee date I’ve been promising my neglected friend via WhatsApp for at least 6 months…) BUT this morning I finally got my arse in gear and ticked off something from my ‘Really Must Do’ list by attending a First Aid class designed specifically for parents, grandparents and carers of babies and young children. It took just two hours out of my morning and covered a whole host of stuff including what to do if a child is choking, how to deal with burns/breaks/bleeding and the basics of life-saving CPR for kids.
Today I attended Alison’s mini first aid course and I really enjoyed it. She covered everything you need to know to keep your little ones and other babies and children safe if anything were to happen! Even though Alison’s only just started out she came across very confident and professional and answered our questions very well, she even said if wanted to ask her anything after the mini course to email her and she will reply with an answer. Very laid back and relaxed with a cuppa tea and chocolates ???? thank you Alison! I highly recommend!!
We completed the course when our baby was tiny and now am very thankful we did. At 8 months old now and into everything, he started to choke on an ice cube. He went red, couldn't cough and was starting to go blue. The invaluable advice learnt at the course most certainly helped to save his life! Thank you Mini First Aid x
